Sonofusion Technology

Sonofusion Energy is developing a novel approach to Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) for commercially viable fusion energy. Sonofusion is based on a thermonuclear (hot) fusion energy technology spun off from UCLA that was originally developed with over $10M in government funding. The company’s unique technology solves the problem of commercially viable, scalable fusion generation in a way that will finally unlock the potential of fusion energy.

Co-founders include UCLA Professor Seth Putterman and Carlos Camara, PhD, leading authorities on energy focusing phenomena and cavitation. Their groundbreaking research has been featured on the covers of Nature Magazine and the New York Times.

How Sonofusion Technology Works

Sonofusion Competitive Advantages

Compared to other approaches to fusion, Sonofusion has two main competitive advantages. First, its relative simplicity avoids the significant commercialization hurdles. Sonofusion reactors will be built for a fraction of the cost and complexity, making fusion commercially viable for many energy applications. Second, the reactor design is also modular and scalable. Table-top fusion generators can be used to power buildings, or utility-scale reactors can power cities.

I would like nuclear fusion to become a practical power source. It would provide an inexhaustible supply of energy, without pollution or global warming.
